Renew: Why Catholic?
By Lisa Loewenkamp
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Renew: Why Catholic?program
this year. There were 81 participants, and most enjoyed the Advent
and Lenten sessions. Those of us who participated made new friends
and really enjoyed learning more about our faith. Many thanks to those
who agreed to be facilitators or hosted meetings in their homes: Jean HagenBurger,
Julie and Martha Fannon, Susan Collins,
Beth Morrissey, Lou Marrone, Andrea Robinson,
Ray and Susan Jones, Judy and Jerry Collins, Ruth Schell, Betty Bright,
Jeanne Garibaldi, Scott Fisher, Denise Michaud, and Sandy Alter.
For those of you unfamiliar with the program, Renew: Why Catholic?is
a four-year journey through the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
A facilitator leads a small group (three to twelve members) in discussion
for twelve weeks, six during Advent and six during Lent. The discussions
are centered on a book, one for each year. We just finished Book
1, The Profession of Faith: What We Believe. This book
centered on the Apostles Creed and explored the basic tenets of our faith.
Next year we will study Book 2, The Celebration of the Christian Mystery:
Sacraments.We invite all of you
to join a group next fall, make some new friends in the parish, and learn
more about your faith.
Look for information on sign-up dates in the bulletin in August and September.
The only cost involved is the purchase of Book 2, which is only $10!
If you are interested in facilitating or hosting a group, you may call
me, Lisa Loewenkamp, at 636-1308 to volunteer.
