Council
of Catholic Women
By
Linda Grice
The Knoxville Diocesan Council of Catholic Women held their annual convention
in Gatlinburg on April 11-12. “Moving Mountains through Faith and
Love” was the theme of the convention. Workshops included Liturgy
of the Hours, Martha and Mary, Taking Care of Yourself, and the Family
Table of Health - just to name a few. Our guest speaker was Wendy Ranson,
the founder of Emily's Power for a Cure Foundation. Please read how
Wendy changed a mountain to a mole hill after the death of her daughter
Emily. This story and highlights of the workshops can be found at
KDCCW.org. Attending the convention were Jean HagenBurger,
Judy Collins, Aimee Place, and me.
"I
may have all the faith needed to move mountains…but if I have no love,
I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13: 2
St.
Veronica Guild
By
Loretta DeRuvo
Do you ever wonder what happens to the little white cloths (purificators
and corporals) that are used during Mass by Fr. John and the Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion? It is the responsibility of the members
of the St. Veronica Guild to care for them. Care includes removing
all stains and disposing of the water properly, washing, ironing, and making
them ready for all Masses. There are currently four members of the
Guild: Bettye Bright, Loretta DeRuvo, Carol Marcello, and Audrey Vocaturo.
If you would like to help by joining this ministry, please contact Loretta
at 639-0071 or Bobnlor62@aol.com.
St.
Elizabeth Guild

St. Elizabeth Guild members have been entertaining residents at the Greeneville
Life Care Center nursing home on Friday afternoons. A simple game is played
and prizes awarded. We invite you to join us in a fun and rewarding activity.
An orientation and free TB skin test is required by the nursing home. Each
volunteer is asked to participate one Friday a month from 2:00 p.m. until
3:00 p.m.
Another way you can contribute is to join other parishioners who have donated
items to be used as prizes. The men especially like baseball hats, cotton
handkerchiefs, and aftershave. The ladies like costume jewelry, note paper,
small items to decorate their room, cosmetics, etc. Please place your donated
prize items in a bag, mark it St. Elizabeth, and leave it in the church
hall.
For further information contact Carole McCune at 257-3584.
St. Martha
Guild

The Saint Martha Guild would like to thank all of our helpers, both men
and women, along with those who have supplied food and other items for
our Mercy Meals. Mercy Meals are provided for families after a Mass of
Christian Burial at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Thank you for all your
support,
Recognition also goes to those of you who prepare individual-sized food
containers that are on hand in our parish freezer. These items are a great
treat for some of our homebound parishioners from time to time.
We have started a food pantry, so we will soon be making a list of items
that are helpful for us to have on hand for our ministry. If you would
like more information about the Saint Martha Guild, you can get in touch
with Amanda Norris, Barbara Price, or Susan Collins.
